Here at Chesapeake Waters we believe in promoting waterfowl conservation by enhancing the natural retrieving skills of our working dog breeds. Basic training starts with general obedience to ensure that the retriever is attentive to the trainers/handlers direction. Then, retrieves are taught in sequence, starting with sinles and advancing to various multiples as the dog progresses. Blind work is reserved for advanced dogs that have completed force fetching. Frozen and live birds (mallard ducks) are used to keep dogs enthusiastic about retrieving. Artificial dummies are used when teaching dogs a specific skill or new concept.

Let me enhance your retrievers abilities while he/she boards at our facility or choose to join the training sessions and I can show you how to work with your own pet. Please call to discuss a training plan for your retriever and together we will set goals for his/her advancement in the sport of waterfowl retrieving and hunting.

Prices start at $360/mo (includes boarding) and may vary depending on the level of training required to reach the goals you have set for your retriever. Additional fees for live birds and Hunt Tests.

We are now accepting clients for the 2008 training season. Training sessions generally begin April (weather permitting) and end September 31st.
